WEB AUTHORING – Print This Page

[ADVANCED] Are you someone that creates, manages or edits your website? Now that there are easy tools and website administration features, a webmaster is not always needed and many of our readers update their own.

However, even though simple tools can help you build a web page in a matter of minutes, there are always customizations you can do that require a little knowledge in HTML coding.

To make a web page more user friendly, often we see a “Print this Page” button at the bottom (or top) of the website. Offering this option can encourage your readers to retain a copy of the web page information that they may need later.

For instance you could add a “print this page” reminder on:

  • A landing page when someone signs up for a teleseminar that contains the conference date, time and dial-in information.
  • A website that shows an article or special report.
  • A calendar page of events.

Think of all the pages on your website that could benefit from a “print” button!

How To Add The Button

In researching how to add a “Print This Page” button, we found a remarkably easy way to do it. All you have to do is add a small string of HTML code to any page on your website.

You have a choice of two code options, based on the words and look that you want.

******************************************

Use the Insert HTML feature on your website. Put in this string of code, carefully replacing each underscore ( __ ) with a single SPACE:

******************************************

If you want something simpler in appearance, try this button. Here is the code. Remember, each underscore is really a “space” — not a line.

TIP: In both examples above you can change the text for “Print this page” or “Print” to anything you want by just editing it in the code.
