POWERPOINT – Use “Black” Screen

[NOVICE] Have you ever been in the middle of a presentation and wanted to pause the projector briefly so that you could gain the audience’s full attention? Perhaps you’ve prepared a room for a slide show by warming up the equipment, yet wanted to have the screen be black (no images) until everyone was settled in and ready.

With a simple, one-click solution you can pause your presentation at any point — and display either a Black or White screen. Here’s how:

  1. Open your PowerPoint presentation.
  2. Click on the icon for presentation mode (or go to View, Slideshow).
  3. When you would like the screen to go Black, press the “B” key on your keyboard .
  4. To return to the presentation, press the “B” key again.
  5. To view a White screen, simply press the “W” key. Press it again to return to the presentation.

This can be useful when you want to:

  • Pause your presentation to gain the full attention of your audience.
  • Talk about something that is not relevant to the slide that is being viewed.
  • Show a blank screen at the beginning or ending of your presentation.

In one easy keystroke you can fully control your presentation!
